Preserves
San Bernardino County, CA
Galena Peak
In 2018, The Wildlands Conservancy separated the 1,280-acre Galena Ridge from its Oak Glen Preserve, positioning this rugged rocky landscape to be managed like the adjoining San Gorgonio Wilderness. At 9,324 feet, Galena Peak is the tallest privately-owned peak in Southern California and its granite crags that are a lambing ground for bighorn sheep.
Access requires cross country hiking; no trails lead to the reserve. Closest access point is at the Falls Picnic Area. Visitors can hike two miles east in Mill Creak Canyon.
Free
Parking at the Falls Picnic Area will require a National Forest Adventure Pass.

Make an Impact
Some preserves do more than protect habitat. They connect people to vast surrounding public lands, opening pathways into national forests, wilderness areas, rivers, deserts, and mountains. Your gift helps protect and steward these threshold landscapes where access to the wild begins.
