Meet the passionate volunteers who help connect people to nature at Oak Glen Preserveโand learn how you can be part of The Wildlands Conservancyโs mission.
Meet Docent, Jane Troy
Jane began her journey at the Oak Glen Preserve in 2015 as a Naturalist, where she quickly connected with The Wildlands Conservancyโs mission to preserve the earthโs beauty and biodiversity while inspiring children to discover the wonders of nature. โI then knew that I was in a good place,โ she recalls.
During her time on staff, Jane led school field trips, guided public night walks, and shared her knowledge at the trail kioskโall with a deep commitment to environmental education and stewardship.
Though no longer a staff member, Jane continues to stay involved as a volunteer docent.
โThis work enables me to stay engaged with what I love, teaching about the protection of our environment,โ she says.
Janeโs passion and dedication make her a valued part of the Oak Glen Preserve community.
Meet Docent, Christine Richardson
Christine has been a dedicated docent at the Oak Glen Preserve for over three years. A nature enthusiast at heart, she treasures the time spent outdoors.
โI love being outside, seeing the birds and butterflies and wildflowers. Every time I volunteer, I come early to walk around and see whatโs in bloom and whatโs happening around the preserve,โ she says.
Christine deeply values The Wildlands Conservancyโs mission to both protect natural spaces and educate young people to safeguard our wildlife and wildlands. Whether she’s chatting with visitors at the kiosk or swapping stories about rattlesnakes, apple recipes, or African safaris, Christine brings warmth, curiosity, and a true passion for nature to every visit.
