VOLUNTEER WITH THE WILDLANDS CONSERVANCY
Across The Wildlands Conservancy’s preserve system, volunteers and docents play an integral part in our mission-driven work. Each year hundreds of volunteers dedicate thousands of hours to projects, programs, and visitor engagement.
Whether your passion is restoration or outdoor education, or you have a day to spare or a few hours a week, there’s a volunteer opportunity available for you to get involved and make a difference not just at your favorite preserve, but in your community.
Opportunities vary across the preserve system. Below are examples of volunteer and docent opportunities. For additional information, contact the preserve near you.
-
Stewardship Volunteer
Volunteer Stewardship Days
Many of the preserves host monthly volunteer stewardship days. This is an opportunity to work alongside Wildlands staff and other members of your community for a few hours a month to help care for the preserve. No long term commitment, just bring your passion for nature and a desire to get your hands dirty!

Restoration Volunteer
Restoration Projects
Restoration of the habitats and ecosystems the preserves protect is an important part of our mission. From restoring federally-endangered Bakersfield cactus at Wind Wolves Preserve to restoring wetlands at Whitewater, there are a variety of projects to get involved with. Restoration opportunities are available at multiple preserves year-round.

Education Docent
Outdoor Discovery Program
The Wildlands Conservancy is Southern California’s leader in providing free outdoor education field trips to youth. Join the docent team at Oak Glen, Whitewater, or Wind Wolves and help teach the future stewards of the Earth. Time commitments vary from preserve to preserve.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
Each preserve is unique and has different volunteer opportunities during the year. Contact the preserve nearest you to take the next steps in a rewarding volunteer experience with The Wildlands Conservancy.
