WIND WOLVES PRESERVE DOCENT PROGRAM
Docents at The Wildlands Conservancy’s Wind Wolves Preserve are long-term volunteers who work independently and alongside staff to help us achieve our goals of land stewardship and public education. They are Wildlands ambassadors, sharing our organization’s mission with visitors.
COMMITMENT
Commit to at least one year of service
Volunteer a minimum of 40 hours annually

ELIGIBILITY
Adults 18 and older
Interests in environmental stewardship and education
Previous experience is desired but not required
Bilingual (English/Spanish) docents are highly desired
Reliable transportation to the preserve is required

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Visitor Engagement
Interact with visitors at preserve kiosks or on the trails.
Trail Maintenance
Assist with trail improvement projects.
Habitat Restoration
Assist with seed collection, propagation, planting, and monitoring.
Public Programs
Assist with weekend programs, including guided hikes and large events.

DOCENT ORIENTATION
Interested individuals must attend an orientation meeting to be eligible for the docent program. Orientations take place at the Wind Wolves Preserve Administration Center (16019 Maricopa Highway, Bakersfield, CA 93311) twice per year. Advance registration is required. Submit the interest form to receive more information on upcoming orientations.
