DESCRIPTION:Let’s discover the handful of incredible old-growth trees that remain in this forest in recovery. 7 miles with 300′ of elevation gain. \nAbout the hike: \nDespite a century of logging operations\, including clear-cutting\, there remains reminders of the forest’s original granduer. This 7 mile guided hike will take us to areas not normally open to the public to seek out the remaining individual old-growth trees and learn about our efforts to restore the forest and its important ecological functions. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we hike the Coastal Prairie Loop and watch raptors soar high above the coastal grasslands along their fall migration route. \nThis moderately strenuous hike will be about 4 miles and include over 800 feet in elevation gain from the coastal bluffs to the edge of the forested ridgeline. From this vantage point\, we will be in prime observation territory to witness the acrobatic feats of these marvelous birds of prey. \nNaturalist Dave Barry of “Wild by Nature Walks and Talks” will be leading the hike and helping us to identifying the raptors that we encounter along the way.
