SUMMARY:Summertime Guided Hike
DESCRIPTION:RESERVATIONS OPEN AUGUST 9TH AT 8:00AM\nImmerse yourself in the beauty of Rana Creek Preserve and join us for a guided hike along the Wildflower Meadow Loop trail.\nThis is a moderately strenuous hike with some climbing through the eastern foothills of the preserve. The hike is about 4 miles in length and includes a 500 ft elevation gain. Each participant should be self sufficient and reasonably fit for this activity. Proper footwear and walking sticks are recommended. It may be hot\, so BRING WATER. \nReservations required \n \nDETAILS \n\n\nMeet at the West Gate between 8:15am – 8:45am. NO LATE ARRIVALS AFTER 8:45 AM! \n\n\nDriving directions linked here. \n\n\nEvent is from 9am-12pm \n\n\nDifficulty rating: Moderate-Strenuous \n\n\nRecommended for ages 10 and up \n\n\nBackcountry – no bathrooms available on the trail. Bathrooms will be available at the conference center when the hike starts and ends. \n\n\nSUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING \n\n\nWeather appropriate clothing (check the weather) \n\n\nLong pants (protect yourself from ticks) \n\n\nClose-toe shoes (hiking boots recommended) \n\n\nSun protection (hat\, sunscreen\, sunglasses) \n\n\nwater/electrolytes \n\n\nsnacks \n\n\nSAFETY \n\n\n Remember to bring enough water and snacks for each person and pet in your group (it is recommended you bring 1 liter for every 2 hours of hiking/person) \n\n\nAccess to shade will be available and short breaks will be provided. \n\n\nRecognize the symptoms of heat illness in yourself and others. \n\n\n  \nIf you have any questions and want to ask them before registering\, please email ranacreekpreserve@wildlandsconservancy.org.

SUMMARY:Full Moon Hike
DESCRIPTION:Hike to Sentinel Point at sundown to watch the sun set over the ocean and the full moon rise over the mountains! \nCome greet the “Sturgeon” Moon with us atop Sentinel Point. \nWe will meet at the parking lot and watch the sunset colors from the picnic area. From there we will take a slow walk up to Sentinel Point to listen to the night sounds of the ocean\, howl at the coyotes\, listen for owls\, and lie back and watch the full moon rise over the hills as the ocean swallows the last of the daylight. \nThe walk is about 2 miles with 700′ of elevation gain. \nWe will be walking back to our vehicles in the dark. Please bring a flashlight. Kids welcome. \nSuggested Items to Bring: \n\nDrinking water or hot tea\nClosed-toed shoes\nHiking Poles\nBinoculars\nFlashlight\nlots of layers – could be dripping with fog or crystal clear\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Let’s discover the handful of incredible old-growth trees that remain in this forest in recovery. 7 miles with 300′ of elevation gain. \nAbout the hike: \nDespite a century of logging operations\, including clear-cutting\, there remains reminders of the forest’s original granduer. This 7 mile guided hike will take us to areas not normally open to the public to seek out the remaining individual old-growth trees and learn about our efforts to restore the forest and its important ecological functions.
